what would you guys recommend for learning how to mod Stalker really well? Id love to help out with your project and such, but i have no real modding skills.... :( :(

If you want to learn the basics of modding I segust;
-If you have a backround in modding outher games(like me) and are just starting stalker modding, jump into the deep end so to speak, learn by trying, make a mod help me out with a mod :lol:
-If you have no expearence modding, learn from a slimpler game such as "Jurassic Park: Trespasser" thats where I started, than go from there.
-Go talk, learn, and help on the mini-modding thread.
-Try on your own. Start a mod or fix for PS. For example Im making a mini-mod for PS 1.1, Im addding a trader and balancing them out. (if you want to help your welcome)

Depends what do ya want to do? theres;
1.Scripting/hard
2.Skinnning/so-so
3.Mini-modding/easy and important
4.Behavior modding/Hard to learn easy to do
5.Moddling/VERY HARD
6.Animations/dont know never done it
7. etc. (please describe)

All mods I did were for AoM and AoE III...I have absolutely no exp in modding FPS or anything like this

stalker is a bit different. if you edit soemthing deep in files, you need to test i for long time, even for days, and if it seems to be ok after 10 testing, that does not mean that it will be ok after more 10 tests or real time tryout.

everything is in connection or related to an other feature. if you edit something and it seems to be ok after 10000 testing, it does not mean that it wont cause bugs in an other part of tha game. thats why its damn hard to make unique new things in stalker community.

there are features thats are surely okay, and many mods just grab those, and they are ok, but they dont present anyting new.

they tested it long enough, probably more than 1 year, but well, nothing is perfect, now its pretty playable, with 1.0004, but still has some weak points, some vertex path errors, and then you can restart because saves will go wrong, or anything.
