Sorry for the self-promotion, but I created a way for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mods to be distributed through the Steam Workshop. I am just trying to get some feedback and see if this is something I should keep working on:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Mod Player on Greenlight

The idea is that you can browse different mods on Steam and select ones you want to install. The mod player cleanly adds and removes mods, so you never have to mess around with zip files, configuration files, etc:

If this is something you think would be useful, please leave a comment on the Greenlight concept page. I'm going to use the feedback to decide whether to finish this project. Thanks.

AWSOME idea to weed out those who cant mod their games and make the modding itself easier, another idea to help is the devs email account attached to the bug tracker would make the crashing and fixing also easier.
