Well this time I would like to know your opinions about video games mods.

The first thing I should take as example is priboi story. It's really improving stalker in the way I would like, even if there is still some areas to improve. I really felt that both stalker games were half-finished and I doubt that priboi story will be able to fix everthing, as the first project should have been stable in the first time, but itstill add new values to the game.

I found priboi story website by luck, which is the second point I would like to develop here: mods are insanly hard to find. Apart for games who have a huge community, and official tools ( bethesda softworks games, like elders scrolls, blizzard entertainment games, like warcraft 3, or half-life 1 and 2), it's a real pain to think mods for other games.

Internet have a lot of garbage, and it's really, really hard to find mods for games without official modding tools, like both stalkers, for example.

I will finally go on console "mods", "extensions", who are officials, and are often intend to not be free of charge, but are someimes free. Why mods should be free on computer, and that there is none on console apart from official extensions, who are most of the time not free?

Beside, they are often ridiculous, I suppose some of you know about the armor pack for horse in oblivion, which is not free, and intend only to give armor for your horse. Hurray. It's the best example for that.

I would like to know what you think about all that.

yep, as jwknaggs say, pc has mods, console games not, or maybe xbox, but others surely not, since all is restricted. you have the game on a disc, you cant add files, and the machine probably wont read it.

about pc games, the other 2 games which i play and like has lots of cool mods:

elder scrolls - oblivion (our former teammate, dzastreux also worked on lots of cool mods for oblivion)

far cry 1 (yep i like it, but its just because there is great mod support for it, and it still looks nice, and runs fine on old pcs. there are many mods for it, even total conversions, which is lot more easier to make there, as in stalker)

Well, i'm a Valve guy.CS:S, HL2, DOD:S, TF2, L4D.
I guess that HL1 hooked me on Valve when i was 4-5 (can't remember).
Always great design and quality in each product.Plus the modding support is astounding and we gave practically free games because of it.
Valve even publishes these on steam for free (selected ones that are stable enough).
Their SDK is what got me started at mapping.
I also appreciate any devs that release an SDK for their commitment at giving modders tools to make their games even better.

Don't tell me you've never heard about GTA mods?Sheesh...The games are super-moddable...Also,AOM and AOE III are pretty good when it comes down to modding...I seem to remember doing a few mods for some mod group in AOM,mostly in-game modifications.Never bothered to do units/buildings :D but I did do a few scenarios too.
