Q: Who are you guys?

A: Our mod team started with two members, dezodor, and wavetrip. our first project was returning the blowouts in the game in early April. After the first version, we met LSSNeitrino, who was working on the same stuff, but with random blowouts. We decided to help each other, and we released a new version with better effects, and killing radiation and also better sound effects. LSSNeitrino is a great scripter, he managed to add some NPC reactions and spawning cutout monsters after the blowout so we kept the original idea, and during the months we made the effects and sounds better. Many modders loved the new sounds of the blow, so we still see those sounds in many great mods.

Our second project, the UHSF mod was our first big mod, that's when Kanyhalos joined us. We managed to remove the blowout and the dead zone from the NPP levels, also added clean weather to the dark areas, so that was the main thing about the old UHSF mod with cars and cutout mutants. That was the time when wavetrip left the team...

The free play story project was the first mod with free play possibility through level changers. In early July the level changers took you back from the NPP (point of no return) to Pripyat through the Sar. We also added back the vehicles (the old forgotten Moskvich to) and more cutout mutants, better weather, blowout and many more little changes. The free play mod was our first really big success.

Then the time came, and we decided to create a new project, called the Priboi Story. The team fell apart and dezodor was alone with the project. Kanyhalos helped him with ideas and also helped him with collecting coordinates and spawning mutants. After 2-3 months of editing the files, the mod began to work fine, and the motivation rose. The first breaking point was the 1.0004 patch, because we needed to re-create the mod from the beginning. In October we decided to abandon the mod, because we wanted to add many stuff, that we were unable to add. Thank god we met Barin, Kailniris, Natvac, Siro and Darius6. Barin helped us a lot with the missions and scripting. Kailniris helped us with modeling work, Natvac helped us with scripting and solutions, Darius6 with sound fixes and ideas, and Siro gave us cool textures and also helped with correcting the text.

So everyone had their own task to complete. This is the first storyline mod for Stalker.


Q: What is this Priboi Story?


A:Approximately one year has passed since the Marked One's story. You are a military Lieutenant, Priboi Slipchenko, and you were sent into the Zone...

There was a secret organization, called UHSF, and they were responsible for the incident. They had a base at Dead City (Limansk?) but the mercenaries whipped them out in the late 80's. The organization fell apart, and the last living members disappeared until today. Somehow this story is connected to the Marked One's story, and you'll eventually find out how. Over 20 important classified documents were hidden in the zone and you will need to find them to complete the puzzle. You will need to be "Sherlock Holmes" and dig deeper in the zone then you have ever done before.

If you find a missing document, you will need to read it to obtain information about the case, or get some clues about where to look next. You are in the Zone again, but it has changed. While the zone appears to have become a better place to survive in, but this has only caused it to become more difficult as it has driven more mutants from the center of the zone, and has increased the amount of threats in the Zone. The mercenaries have gained control on the Agroprom factory, and the military was pushed back to Cordon. You might be their only hope...


At the game start, you will need to read the PDA, and make sure to check it often! It will be helpful, and you can find anything you want in the PDA. After you talk to the military commander and the major, do not forget to talk to "buddy" too. He is the village chief. Almost every conversation was re-written, so you should talk a lot with people. During your missions, you will notice the Zone from a different person's perspective. You will know the secrets that you were unable to find in the Marked One's story... You may meet with Strelok, Doc, and of course Dezik Lohnar (dezodor), Kanyhalos, NatVac, Don Reba, Siro, Darius6 and a lot of important members of the dez0wave team.

Q: Saw your other projects, called Oblivion Lost... whats the difference between that and this one?

A: Oblivion Lost is a remake of the stalker shoc storyline, so we added back many good stuff that was cut from the vanilla game. Kanyhalos improved the alife and weapons, added some hardtokill bosses, and so on. So we suggest you to play it first after you finished vanilla.
Priboi story is a new storyline mod for stalker. It has some common features, like our original free play story mod, the levelchangers, vehicles, blowout, cutout monsters, and some little this and that. We suggest you to play the Priboi Story after you completed the shoc storyline several times, and you got bored to do the same things all over again, talk to sid, save nimble, and so on... If you feel you need some fresh stuff, then do not hesitate to check Priboi Story. You will like it.

Q: What about the combat?

A: Its a bit harder now, you have strong wpns, but youre weaker now, since you are just an office worm, without any training, so you need to learn fast, work out tactics, and stay sharp. Sometimes a good shot will be enough to kill you, so you should stay alerted at enemy territory. Also the local wildlife doesnt like your city smell, so they will try to eat you as soon as they can


Q: What did you do with the levels?

A: Nothing special. Just reworked them a bit, to look more similar to the old stalker concept, you know first time it was summer in the zone, and then they changed it to autumn, and in the final we see a post summer pre autumn zone
Now the story is in summer. Its July, the zone is green, living as in realtime. Some ppl complained about the new outlook, well i suggest them to look around for pictures, or take a trip to the zone, its not so expensive, and you will get a lifetime experience! Also added many new objects, so sometimes the game slows down a bit, but stay playable. It was hard to decide, since we need to choose everything or nothing. Now at least some guys will realize what would happen if the zone were a huge level.


Q: So you put back some popular stuff too, like cars, monsters, rainbow?

A: ah yep. you know this is a must have these days, its like the butter what you always use when you want to eat a s.wich...

Q: Whats your system spec youre working on?

A: Well me (dezodor) have an old AMD 2.4+ (2.0ghz) processor, 1gb ram, and an old ati 9800 vga. Barin has ati x1650 and 2gb rams and a faster cpu as i can remember, Buddy has the strongest pc, with c2d quad core cpu and 4gb ram and 8800gt vga, but that needs for the level creating, Kanyhalos has a 3ghz cpu and 2gb ram and an ati x1950 vga. So as you can see we could try the mod out in different specs. The results were acceptable, thats why we released it.

Q: Do we need to have 1.0005 patch? or its ok with 1.0004?

A: This mod works fine under 1.0005 and 1.0004 too. I tested it with 1.0004, and Barin with 1.0005. It worked fine, thats why we released it. BUT now we need to say something: We own the WorldWide version of Stalker and also we play it with english localisation. We both use Windows Xp Sp2 OS, only Buddy has Xp X64bit OS, but it seems to work there too. The problem is, many user try to run it with different localisations. It wont work. Sorry. But dont worry, we are working on some translations. We need to talk about Brazuca, our text corrector, who helped a lot to correct misstakes, and about Alex San and Bober team, who helps us with the russian localisation. Johnnythewolf for the french translation, Marco-M & Griphoon and his mates for the italian translation, and also the guys at stalkerspain for the spanish translation... So please be patient a bit, the text folder is almost 1mb big, that means almost a small book, and if they want to make a perfect translation, well, that needs time

Q: What to do if the game crashes? Where to find help?

A: Well we tested the stuff many times, and we said its impossible to make it crash, but well we got some reports about crash after death. Since we didnt notice it during the testing periods (we had 8 testers) and they havent noticed such a bug. We guess this has something to do with the loaclisation, or corrupted files during the installed or manual unpacked mod. The fastest way to find help is this forum. I know we just started it, and it requires an other registration, but this is the fastest way. Also if anyone has plrblems with registering on this site (missing activation mail), just drop me a mail, and i will activate the users manually.

Q: Cool but what should we post? what to do? please explain it a bit more

A: All right. So after a crash, immediately go to this: C:\documents & settings\all users\documents\stalker-shoc\logs folder and grab that log file, and send it to our email adress, or upload it to somewhere and post the link here on the forums under the bugs section. We will check it asap.

nvidia fog fix (only for nvidia cards)

Ok we noticed that the fog wont look cool with every vga cards, especially with nvidia... too bad, since it looks cool with ati.
So if you notice the fog bug (transparent sky and objects) then just grab this file, and update your gamedata. You dont
need to start a new game!

blowout hideouts

These are for 1.0 version. the next version will have markers and more hideouts because the deadly radiation...

so 1.0 hideouts:

cordon: the cellar next to the village chief (the closer one)

garbage: hangar

agroprom: factory building & underground

darkvalley: the place where you enter x18 lab and bandit base

bar: bar itself where the barmen stays

military: village house cellar

yantar: bunker of the ecologs and underground lab

pripyat: monolith base

stancia: sarcofag

Priboi Story 1.1 RBP (read before play)

The mod was made for 1.0004 patch. If you use 1.0005 patch, then grab the update for 1.0005 from our moddb site, otherwise you will get crashes during reloading savegame or talking to npc-s.

The mod does not compatible with any other mods, and we don't support merging. The fan made addons for priboi will be posted on main site asap they are translated for english language (currently we only have russian addons)

The mod needs a bit stronger pc than vanilla game, so if you encounter slowdowns, try to play on static lightning, its still really nice with that. Also read the readme before you play, we described system specs there.

If you read, it spares a lot of time and problem for you :)
