You mean the entire Zone as one single gigantic map, no level-changers?

Hmm. Might have to wait for somewhat more powerful hardware for that one.

But it would certainly make a big difference. Even if it had load-points, a bit like HL2 where there is no distance between where you are when the load starts and when it ends. In Stalker you go into a level-changer and find yourself miles down the road when it loads, but in HL2 you hadn't moved and just continued down the road as you were.

That would mean bringing in new maps to link all the others together, just basically wilderness maps maybe with a few hordes of mutants hanging around for target practice on the way to wherever you're going.

Would be interesting, but a whole lot of work for some level-builders.

That could work if you had like CoP style 3 big maps connected by long roads filled with mutants, anomalies, and the occasional highwayman. It would make cars much more useful.

Of course not. I know it's not possible in SoC.

Anyway, I'm not sure my question has been answered properly, so I guess I'll just wait and see. Still, for the sake of replayability and open-endeness, I hope the mod will not rely as much on scripted barriers (e.g. Duty guards in Garbage, Brain Scorcher, hostile loners in Cordon, raised bridge in Red Forest, etc.) as SoC and CS did.

We won't have lame restrictions, if there is it will be justified gameplaywise and storywise.

Bloody hell! It looks more and more real!
Alright, I'm not gonna ask THE question. Just this: Are you guys done with the levels?
One more thing: Considering the size and the significance of this project: don't you think that it would deserve a proper website? With a proper domain name?
lostalpha .com .net .org ... all available.
I'm willing to participate to make the site - happily. If you don't have the manpower.

looks like a cool mod- been waiting forever for it- i guess it will come out someday.. if it dont come out before i downgrade to this w7 hp ive been holding for a few months now- im not sure i will ever play lost alpha after i install w7- not sure stalker will even work with w7 64bit. and then might have to wait for lost alpha fixes before i ever install it..

i really liked priboi story tho.. im playing and recording my older games now that might not like w7- painkiller and booh- quake4- soon i will start recording postal2 stp aw awp- fear platinum collection maybe a few more. add to my over 2,300 videos on youtube..

http://www.youtube.com/user/ezeht

after bioshock2 comes out and i save enough cash- im buying it- might even start playing mp again.. id like to have rage and metro 2033 and maybe when cost less and sp is not real short maybe i will get call of pripyat. its said the less buggy of the 3 stalker games- i might not ever buy clear sky.. maybe metro will not be real buggy. metro looks like a cool game.. i think the combo fps/rpg games have become my favorite genre..

hope all has a great new year :D

Getting itchy.

Is there an approximate guess, estimate on a release date?

So many screens, so many videos, so much temptation.

It may well be the admission of a psychopath, but I REALLY feel the urge to shoot new things in new places.

Plus the forum desperately needed a new post.
