load times(main menu,save,map load, etc..) {SOLVED}

Postby Zombiep00pZ » Tue Apr 29, 2014 1:39 am

it takes around 5-3 minutes to load up a new map, around 1-2 minutes to escape to main menu, and around 30 secs to 1 minute to quick save. is this normal? as i saw few videos and them instantly saving and instantly switching to main menu.
thx :rolleyes:

i have the setting as low as possible and it still the same (maybe shaving a min or two not too noticeable) having the settings medium will have the game load up the fastest (at least i have tested(need to test more))
currently running the game in medium setting and dx9
specs :
msi 650 ti boost 1 gb
intel i3-2100 3.10ghz
6gb ram

It isnt normal, I have a similar PC, I5 3470, 650 TI 8GB Ram and a 7200RPM 1TB HDD, takes about 10 seconds to load from cold start, quickloading around 4. My friend also has fast loading times and he has a much weaker gpu and slower HDD, a 525m 640GB laptop HDD, although he does have an I7 2600.

Perhaps its a long shot but maybe you have some sort of anti virus or anything running a scan in the background? Cause when that happens my game takes a looooooooong time to load when that happens

Are you running any compatibility modes?

With XP SP3, Vista SP2, 7, etc. it took me up to 3 minutes sometimes to load a save, even though the game is installed on an SSD. With no compatibility mode selected it loads instantly. Oh and you need to run the game as administrator.

I'm getting this too. My problem is that the game won't even load (Just starts up, black screen, crashes back to desktop without any errors) without Windows XP compatibility mode.

For reducing loading times, try starting the game from XR_3DA exe, in "bins" folder. For example, in C:\Program Files (x86)\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Lost Alpha\bins. No need for compatibility tweaks, etc. It worked for me, on Windows 8.
