Perfect, thank you.

You could delete this thread now if you like. I can't see it serving any other purpose.

Not sure if this is the right place for this....

I am reduced, at the moment, to my old machine and it is having problems. My frame rate is better measured in 'frames per week' than in 'frames per second'.

Is there a way to shut down the rain?

It appears that rainy weather takes up so much of my poor machine's abilities that what used to take 15 minutes to do now takes well over two hours. I'm getting constant freezes, some lasting for several minutes, and most of them occur when it is raining.

I recently came back from Red forest and ran across Army Warehouses to the Bar level-changer. I didn't do anything else on the way and it took me 47 minutes to cross that map - because it was raining.

yep its possible.

you just need to open weather_default.ltx in notepad2 or notepad++ or any other editor, and look for

env_ambient = ambient_env_rain

each hour has env_ambient section, so where you see this: ambient_env_rain

you should change it to:

a: if its night or evening, then: ambient_env_night or ambient_env_evening
b: if its day, then: ambient_env_day

and also each hour has such section:

thunderbolt = thunderbolt_collection_default

just simply delete the thunderbolt_collection_default after the "=" sign

the last section is:

rain_density = x.x

where you see numbers other than 0.0, change them to 0.0, so no rain will fall.

i hope it helps.
and this method disables rain, and thunders.

Excellent!

Just made those changes and off to see what happens. Hopefully it will make some improvement. It won't cure the problem as numbers of mutants and other stalkers can also lag it.

There something that I was wondering for a while dezodor, what are exactly the optimisation possibilities for stalker?

From my point of view, even if the the patches reduced some bugs, there is still many, it's very tough to play well the game.

I had to know how far you can go.
